Book Summary

Dallas and Florida are orphans until they meet Tiller and Sairy, an older couple who live in Ruby Holler.

Dallas and Florida aren’t sure they want to stay with this couple because they don’t trust people. They’ve been shuffled between foster homes and orphanages all their lives. Dallas likes their new home, but Florida is skeptical.

Tiller and Sairy are going on a trip. Tiller is going on a canoe trip and Florida is going with him. Sairy is going to look for a bird on a tropical island; Dallas is going with her. Tiller and Sairy pay the kids to help them get ready for their trip.

While Tiller and Sairy are in town, Dallas accidentally mentions the understone funds, which is where Tiller and Sairy keep their money, to the owner of the orphanage. The owner asks Z to go see if he can find the banks so he can steal the money hidden in them!

Will Dallas and Florida stay in Ruby Holler?

And will they be able to foil the scheme of the orphanage’s owner?
