Book Summary

Celie, Rolf, and Lilah are the royal children, along with their brother Bran, who is at the College of Wizardry. They live in the Castle Glower, a magical castle that is alive. It can grow new rooms whenever it wants (usually on Tuesdays)!

Celie’s parents (the King and Queen) are going to the College of Wizardry to pick up Bran, who just graduated and became the Royal Wizard. It had been nearly two weeks since their parents left, and the siblings begin to worry.

Suddenly, Celie sees her parents’ carriage far in the distance. She calls Rolf, and he verifies it is indeed their parents’ carriage. But when it arrives at the gate, only Seargant Avery is in it, and he shares the devastating news that bandits killed their parents.

The counselors decide to crown Rolf right away, but they make him a regent (basically, a puppet king) until he is 24-years old. Added to that, a lot of guests are coming for the funeral including Prince Lulath of Grath, and the mean Prince Kelsh of Vhervhine, who the Emissary adds to the counsel!

Celie and Rolf send their friend, Pouge, to check with the wizards to see if their parents are still alive because the castle didn’t add a royal seal to the door of Rolf’s room, indicating that he was the new king.

As it turns out, they are alive! But where are they?

When the Emissary hears that the king and queen are still alive, he tells Rolf he is going to lock up his sisters in the dungeon.

Will Celie and Rolf be able to save the castle from Prince Kelsh and the Emissary?

And will they ever see their parents again?

Josie’s Thoughts on Tuesdays at the Castle

I give Tuesdays at the Castle 5 stars! I love this book because it’s a captivating page-turner and part of an excellent series.

It is a fantasy book, but written so well that I feel like I was one of the characters. If anyone calls me while reading it, I usually don’t hear them.

You would like this book if you like stories with kids going on magical and witty adventures.

I would suggest this book for ages 8-15.
